With Covid cases still rising, what will Halloween look like this year? Halloween will look a little different this year. It will probably vary depending on where you live, as the CDC points out its 2020 Halloween guidelines. In some places, like LA, trick or treating is not recommended. So, it’s a good idea to check in with your local health officials for updates on trick-or-treating in your area.

According to Dr. Rimoin, communities should be looking for ways to incorporate safety guidelines into Halloween activities. Some safety guidelines are wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and washing hands regularly. The CDC doesn’t advise the normal trick-or-treating this year because of the risk of spreading Covid. They also don’t recommend activities like crowded parties, haunted houses, hayrides/tractor rides with people you don’t live with, and going to any festival outside your community.

However, the CDC suggests putting out candy on a lawn or edge of the driveway for people to come pick up, decorating your home, watching movies, and pumpkin carving.
