Procrastination Causes and Ways to Stop the Habit

What is procrastination?

Procrastination means the action of delaying or postponing something because of different reasons. This is one of the biggest problems for people with important work who tend to distract themselves from doing the boring work to doing something more fun/enjoyable. Most people would get distracted by something and would stay distracted until they realize they have to do work. It can be a serious habit that can be overcome.

Many high school students struggle with procrastination when it comes to school work. So much time is wasted on avoiding finishing a way more important subject for school. Everyone has their own time management outlook, but some can be demotivated and disillusioned that it can lead to mental problems.

Recognizing your developing procrastination

Some things that show one is procrastinating is reading something over and over again to become indecisive. Getting energy or becoming hype about the task you are going to do and suddenly feeling that urge to make a coffee, is procrastination. Waiting to be in the “right mood or right time” to complete a task is procrastination at it’s finest.

This bad habit can be overcome with various strategies. Self-forgiveness and a growth mindset would be the best strategy for anti-procrastination because you’d most likely feel positive about the work. Create a to-do list and commit to it without avoiding it even if it is hard. After all the hard work, rewarding yourself will be all worth it!
